Polished zirconium rods are characterized by a small thermal neutron absorption cross-section and as an active metal, zirconium forms an oxide film at room temperature. This oxide film makes zirconium and its alloys have excellent corrosion resistance while having good mechanical and heat -to-transfer properties. Zirconium products are abundant and diverse. The most initial mineral form is zircon sand, which can be processed by caustic soda and water washing to produce primary products such as zirconium silicate and zirconium chloride; further calcination, chlorination, and reduction can also make zirconium dioxide and industrial-grade sponge zirconium; if the purification and separation technology reaches a certain level, nuclear grade sponge zirconium can be made.

The zirconium rods produced by Yusheng Metals are used in ceramics and refractory materials. Only 3%-4% of zirconium ore is processed into metallic zirconium (or sponge zirconium), which is then further processed into various zirconium materials.  Nuclear-grade zirconium can be considered a strategic metal of national importance and is closely associated with the development of the nuclear industry.
